According to the official press release, the new Venus and Olay razor blends the five-blade technology popular with the Venus brand with the skin conditioning treatment of Olay moisturizers. North American marketing director for Gillette Venus, John Holding, commented in a press release: “The Venus and Olay razor is revolutionizing the shaving aisle. There might be other razors claiming skin benefits, but only Venus has the benefit of this unique partnership with Olay, and their rich heritage and expertise in skincare.”
The Venus has always offered users “Goddess Skin,” but now, Holding says that “Venus and Olay is the newest and an outstanding way to achieve it.” Gillette commissioned Harris Interactive to survey women in hopes of finding out exactly what they thought achieving “Goddess Skin” meant. Luckily for the company, 69 percent of those surveyed thought that shaving was one of the most critical steps to achieving “Goddess Skin.” Most of those surveyed described “Goddess Skin” as smooth, healthy, and soft.
The new partnership will also be featured as the “Official Razor” for the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. This is the first beauty partnership for the magazine’s most-read edition of the year, and will showcase behind-the-scenes footage of preparation for the shoot. Beginning on February 14, 2012, the magazine website will broadcast a series of webisodes that outline the preparation and beauty secrets of model Chrissy Teigen. They will show her Goddess Skin routine using the Venus and Olay razor.
